How This One Belief Can Change Your Life

Trust the wait. Embrace the Uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming. When nothing is certain, anything is possible. - Unknown   Can you believe it? It’s that time of year again.   As I look back at the things that have happened, the pleasant and unpleasant - one thing became really clear to me.

Anything Is Possible

This idea is something we no doubt hear and read a lot about in the personal development world. It interweaves itself throughout our daily lives. However, it came to the forefront of my awareness as the year progressed.   When the results of the 2016 American Presidential Election came in, the notion of Anything Is Possible took on a more prominent meaning for me. It’s like someone flicked on the neon lights and it’s now shining effervescently in my mind.   It became a notorious reminder for me to view life as an endless world of possibilities.   It also conjured up Eckhart Tolle’s teachings. Sometimes the circumstances we encounter in life are neither good nor bad – it just is.   When things aren’t going our way and we experience a setback or an emotional slump, it’s the only way to deal with what we perceive as ‘bad’ and to find hope and peace in experiencing the larger tapestry of life.
You do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is all going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and to embrace them with courage, faith and hope.  - Thomas Merton
Leverage what you can from the events and find the wisdom underneath the hard-won lessons in life.   I live for moments like this.   Finding peace within the shit that’s going on in your life and feeling ready to let go of emotional baggage, and anything that’s been holding you down.   I live for moments like this.   Meeting new people that are likeminded who you instantly click with, as you develop a bond, feeling like you’ve known each other for years.   I live for moments like this.   Listening to the nudges within us to share something in a conversation you couldn’t help but overhear and seeing it shift someone into ease, comfort, belonging  and acceptance.   I live for moments like this.   Coming across music, art, other people’s work, who inspires you to create and ignites you into action to make shit happen.   I live for moments like this.   The unexpected sparks. The unexpected wins. The unexpected connections.   The knowing that even if the unexpected happens not in your favor, trust that life will unexpectedly gift you with wisdom and resources.   I live for moments like this.  (Well, not really...) More just the latter, when life gives me a clue as to what I need to do or stop doing to navigate the challenges, turn things around, and get back to a better feeling place.

Anything is possible.

It’s how we decide to choose to perceive, adapt, take action in interacting with what’s going on in our lives that lead us to the possibilities.   Next time you feel like you are under-qualified for a job, apply for it. Because in your heart you know that’s not the case.   Next time you feel like giving up on something you truly believe in because it’s getting too hard. Don’t. You owe it to yourself to give it your all. And once you have, let go of your expectations of how you think things should be.   The magic often happens when you let go of your attachment to any fixed outcome. Trust that anything is possible.   Whatever cards that you are dealt with that’s not to your liking, trust that you have the control and capabilities to overcome, take action and make decisions accordingly to get you back to a feel good place.   As Marie Forleo often says,

“Everything is figureoutable.”

Believe in the possibilities and believe that you have what it takes to make things happen and get you to where you need to be.   So next time when an opportunity presents itself to you or you get an epiphany of some sort. Don't write it off.  Do something, say something, change something. Know that you have what it takes to transform adversity, create what it is you want, and come out stronger, smarter and (insert what you wish to become).   Seize the opportunities. Anything is possible. 🙂   Photo by: Kristopher Roller
